Q: How many vehicles do you have in service?

Right now we have one 10 passenger Ford Transit van in service.

Q: How many passengers and bags can the vehicle accommodate?
The passenger van seats up to 10, with a cargo area in back for luggage.

Q: What if my flight is late - will my driver wait for me?
Yes, wait times apply. The flat rate includes a set amount of time. 2 Hours total driver time for Santa Fe, 4 Hours ABQ.
With an airport pick-up, if you've provided us with your flight information we can track your flight, but the info is not always up to date and often changes mid air. Your driver will make every effort to help you avoid any wait time fees, so schedule with time for baggage pick up. (Example, if your flight is to arrive at
2:00 pm we will schedule your pick up between 2:10pm & 2:35 pm) It often takes the same amount of time to leave Los Alamos and get to the airport as is does to fly in.- If your flight is early you must wait for your scheduled pick up time.
Passengers are responsible to contact LA Taxi if you are aware of any flight delays or cancellations by emailing, text or calling.

Our drivers are paid by the reservation then the hour, any extra time in 10 minutes increments must be added.

Q: What about child passengers?

Children under 1 ride FREE. New Mexico law requires safety seats for children.  This the responsibility of the parent/guardian. We assume no responsibility for use of these seats. The child must meet requirements for the seat. Parents/Guardians are responsible  for all minors and must bring child safety seats for all babies and toddlers. We are unable to transport children unless they are properly seated according to New Mexico law.

Q: Why do your competitors charge more? Why do you cost more than some UBER/LYFT?

For those of you that are not familiar with the geography of New Mexico, Los Alamos is an isolated mountain town. Los Alamos is located 100 miles North of Albuquerque - 2 hours one way, 100 miles or 4 hours, 200 miles round trip for our drivers.  Santa Fe Airport is 42 miles 55 minutes south of Los Alamos,  2 hour round trip for our drivers. There is a demand for private transportation, just not so much demand that a full time staff can be hired 24/7. It is very expensive to run a business out of Los Alamos AND we are a commercially state licensed transportation service. It costs overhead to adhere to state safety standards, have commercial insurance, and we make very little profit to provide this service due to the expense of Los Alamos and cost of fuel. So a little over $1 mile is reasonable.  We are the only taxi service in/out of Los Alamos. New Mexico has very limited public transportation and private transportation services. We are the least expensive of all state licensed private transportation services to Los Alamos and to long distance locations. Our vehicles and drivers are state safety regulated, unlike UBER/LYFT. Many passengers testify to the poor and unsafe experiences they had with the driver or vehicle safety conditions of UBER/LYFT which are not state regulated. You are in their personal vehicle with personal insurance, no vehicle safety standards and they do not always take into account the cost of vehicle maintenance, wear and tear, a living wage and gas. they give most of the money to UBER/LYFT.  Official Taxi vehicles are commercial business maintained vehicles. Competitors charge double because of the mileage, gas, time and cost of running a business. It costs overhead for licenses, driver and vehicle safety inspections, gas, commercial insurance, vehicle maintenance and of course to pay the driver who doesn't even get benefits and has an irregular schedule. New Mexico is not a high volume state with big airports and metropolitan on demand services. It has a low population and spread out geography.

LA Taxi is a non subsidized transportation service that is state and federally regulated with commercial insurance. We are locally owned and operated. Please be patient. Services are based on availability. We are not a big city cab service with a driver waiting in public for 8 hours shifts or on call 24/7. Drivers do not get paid to be on call. We take calls as they booked first and as they come in. It takes time and effort to come pick you up and to plan.  Los Alamos is a rural town, we cannot afford to pay a driver to be on call 24/7 to maybe make $5! We provide a valuable service for the community and there is overhead to running a small business that is State regulated.
